Following Fitzpatrick's withdrawal Friday, several Smithtown officials immediately announced their support for Randy Altschuler, according to his campaign, including town councilmen Bob Creighton, Kevin Malloy, Tom McCarthy and Ed Wehrheim, Town Clerk Vincent Puleo, Superintendent of Highways Glenn Jorgensen and Receiver of Taxes Deanna Varricchio. "That's a perfect example of how this has changed the dynamic of the race," the Altschuler spokesman said.
